At the request of the audience Joel and will also be discussing;
- Audit Trends (State and Federal) Because Silverman Law focuses on audits or client representation on a daily basis they have insight into how State and Federal agents are conducting audits and will provide information on what to expect in certain audit situations.
- Obtaining information from the IRS and the use of Form 8821 Tax Information Authorization and Form 2848 Power of Attorney
Responding to IRS and Agent Inquires
- Problems Tax Practitioners are facing with the IRS and Montana Department of Revenue and how to resolve
In addition there will be a short presentation on working with collections at the Department of Revenue (DOR) and the “Fresh Start” Initiative The Fresh State Initiative was legislation designed to upgrade the DORs collection processes to more closely reflect those of the IRS. This legislation was vigorously opposed by the DOR. Passage of this legislation would require the DOR collections to work more reasonably with tax practitioners to resolve delinquency problems in a practical and humane fashion.
